BRIAN
KINWALD JOINS X FACTORY.
“I’m looking forward to the greatest adventure of my life,” said
Brian Kinwald in an interview from his home in Fountain Valley,
California.
“The X Factory guys keep coming up with new cutting edge ideas
to make R/C cars faster, and that’s been my entire life.
They have welcomed my ideas and every day Chazz encourages me to
be more creative.”
Yes, it’s true:
Brian Kinwald has joined the X Factory Team.
and will be running the mid-motor X – 6 in all the major races
this year, including the World Championship in Japan.
Kinwald said, “For a long time I’ve fought a major intestinal
disease, and in the summer of ’05 it got so bad that I could no longer
race. But
they’ve changed around my meds and I’m feeling better every day.
I really like the mid-motor concept.
The New Math!
It handles bumps and jumps so much better than a rear motor car
so I can take the natural fast line around the track.”
Kinwald has won the World Championship twice in his 17-year R/C career,
and has also garnered more than 30 National Championships.
Several times Brian has won Buggy, 4WD, and truck all in the same
year! After
Greg Hodapp’s retirement, this is a major coup for X Factory, giving
them perhaps the single most recognizable name in R/C at the head of the
Team.
Team driver Paul Sinclair, head of the X – 6 design group, told,
“I’m so pumped to work alongside Brian Kinwald – he’s been my
hero since the start.
Already he’s starting to help with ideas that were in the
pipeline.
He’s bringing our Team to a new higher level with an incredible
emphasis on preparation and perfection.”
“We’re really looking forward to the ’07 season,” added X
Factory owner Chazz Sinclair.
“The X – 6 is now in the hands of hundreds of racers – we
think of them as The Family – and their input is coming in daily.
It’s all about The New Math, a whole new way of doing
everything.
We developed the X – 6 in public, showing every step along the
way on our web site, www.2wdrc.com.
Many racers sent comments and suggestions both by E-mailing us
and on our forums, and we changed several aspect of the C – 6 design
due to that input.
“The New Math is all about involving everybody.
You can’t keep secrets in the electronic age, so we decided not
to try but instead to use the fact that everybody would know what
we’re doing to generate feed-back.
I get several E-mails every day from the Family and they’re
filled with suggestions.
We answer every one personally, and put lots of ideas into the
files for later use.
The old way is to have a small number of engineers design and
develop your products, but we think that leads to inbred thinking and
soon you run out of ideas.
“We have a constant flow of new thinking as Family all over the world
look at different problems from different angles coming up with
different solutions.
At the most basic level, there’s only one problem:
how do we go faster?
The New Math is a dedication, a focus, on that question.”
Brian Kinwald added, “Winning is what racing is all about, and
you’ve got to be willing to challenge every idea, every concept, every
day to win consistently.
X Factory has that spirit like no other Team I’ve seen, and
that’s why I’ve made this move.
I’m feeling better every day, and I’m so excited about the
future. Working
on something radically better, having a competitive edge because my car
is different, that’s so exciting!
This is going to be the biggest challenge, and the most fun of my
life!” |
